Introduction

Imagine! With the current technology, it is now possible to take a virtual and actual field trip with your classmates to other times and places by selecting a Gateway and traveling through a time tunnel. Your instructor will travel with you as your guide. You will travel with a group.  Your group has signed up to travel through the Civil War Gateway. You have chosen this Gateway so that you can experience, first hand, a time in American History that ripped at the roots of our country's heart and heritage. You will assume the identity of an individual living in these trying times and view the times through their eyes. Your virtual/ reality journey is about to begin. Your Gateway journey will last approximately 4 weeks-that's if everything goes well with the time travel equipment!  As soon as the tunnel door closes your adventure has begun. As the door closes, you enter a time where the country you cherish is falling apart. In some way you will be serving your country. Will you support secession or unification? What will happen to you and your family because of your decisions? Will you need to leave your family to support the war efforts? What life altering decisions will you need to make?
